Levaquin Side Effects

Levaquin may cause both serious as well as minor side effects. The minor side effects are usually not serious and do not require medical intervention unless they are increasingly severe or prolonged. Some of these minor Levaquin side effects are:

• Dizziness
• Insomnia

Levaquin comes with several warnings that indicate possibilities of serious side effects that can be fatal if not treated on time. Caregivers should be aware of the following serious side effects of Levaquin, so that they can get the patient some emergency medical help if the need arises.

• Increased risks of tendon rupture and tendinitis in users of all age groups.
• Liver damage that is noticed with symptoms such as tiredness, abdominal pain, colored stool and urine, yellowing of eyes and skin, etc.
• Central nervous system affectations such as depression, anxiety, suspicious thoughts, hallucinations and seizures.
• Allergic reactions that can be identified through symptoms like breathing trouble, skin rashes, hives, facial and internal swelling, rapid heartbeats and feeling faint.
• Nerve damage that can be identifies through pain, burning, tingling and weakness in arms and legs.
• Intestinal infections (pseudomembranous colitis)

• Heart rate controllers or rhythm controlling medications
• Antipsychotic medicines such as Geodon
• Antidepressants such as Pamelor
• Diuretics such as Lasix
• Steroids
• Antacids
• Multivitamins
